MCD Kit

Hi I was just wondering if the MCD (multicard drive kit) works with the older gray Mpc 2000xl's

Then it'll definitely work. But I wouldn't give those guys my money Search this forum and you'll find alot, read ALOT, of information regarding compatible drives, installation, troubleshooting etc. Everything you need to know.

Did I mention not to buy from VST? In searching the forum you'll find some links to some other online stores selling the same drive, but for much less. I don't know what VST are doing to differentiate their product from others, but whatever it is, I'd comfortably say it is not worth the extra money.

I did a search just like you said a few different ways and all I can find is the VST place. sorry.

Now I know how VST are differentiating their product.

If you want to pay $95 for that then thats' your prerogative, but I wouldn't personally. If I were you I'd be keen to find out what sounds they give you.

Are you sure this drive works at http://www.amtron.com/reader/iisdmc.htm. and do i need to buy any extra internal parts to install it. It also says it will only work with Windows operating systems.

I bought the same drive, from Amtron directly and had no problems.

It says...

No additional software driver required to install it on platforms with Windows systems.

This is what you want as you cannot install drivers on your mpc. (Such as you would require for usb drives, for example.)

Under 'System Requirements' it says "Windows 98/98SE/ME/NT 4.0+SP6/2000/XP". It also says "IBM PC compatible computer *with IDE/ATAPI support"... Your mpc supports this. There are no drivers required for ATAPI drives.

Are you replacing a floppy or a zip drive? If you have a zip, then you can simply swap the drives over. If you are replacing a floppy then there's a bit more to it. You can check what it involves here...

Also, I'm pretty sure the drive comes with the necessary screws. But if you don't get them you will be able to use the same screws that your previous drive had.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I have a floppy drive in my mpc. is there anything that I need to buy like cables, screws, or anything. Does everything come in the package to install it. I do have a external zip drive if I can use that for parts to install it I will.

I was also wondering how long wav files load on a mpc 2000xl compared to the Mpc1000. Im talking about with a MCD kit of coarse.
