MPCs overseas?

I'm going to Japan and I can't bear to leave my baby behind. I have experience using plug converters overseas, but the last time I tried one, white smoke poured out of my Playstation... Needless to say, I'm a bit nervous of trying it with the MP.

Any suggestions?

First..if you are going to Japan, you will not have any issues with you gear getting burned out because everything in Japan runs on 100V.

If you have a 2000/2000XL, they both run on 100V-240V.

If you are looking for clubs to go to in Japan..I can helpy you out with that as well..but if you are military, there may be a curfew or some of the clubs may be off limits

Heaven, now called the Matrix, was aiight. But it was a little tuff getting love out there since it was a Navy turf..but I represented regardless. Especially during the New Year Parties showing up them wack azz wanbe emcees..though the still goty love because it was their turf

Yokohama Circus was alright...but at that time...it was more for the catz that was scared to go to Heavans. Sad to say that Heavan/Matrix is no longer.

Well, if you are going to Japan, you have to make it to Akiharbara's Electric Town. I use to go there about 2-3 days a week even though it was a 1 hour trip each way. Sof Map's Creator's Land is the among the best place to check out used music production gear.

Oh, I *know* about Akihabara- back in high school, I was oogling pictures of that place like a dirty magazine. So I'm assuming that if my MPC will work there, stuff I buy at Electric Town will work in the States?

I'm trying to think of stuff to ask about the place, but I'm drawing a blank right now. To be continued!

It depends on what you buy.

Older products there will run on 100V. You can use them in the US without much problem (I have for years) but it would be better if you buy a step down transformer for them which is about $25.

Newer gear is pretty much universal..100V-240V.

I bought my Triton and 2K XL while I was in Japan. Whether you live in a traditional Japanese house or an Americanized one, you will have no problems. I live in both and everything worked fine.

Forgot about Vietti, yeah, GOOD memories.

Akihabara is a GOOD place. I got lost walking around there MANY times and I didn't mind at all. I was like a kid in a BIG BIG candy store.

I took my ASR10 to japan with me and had no problem with it.

I even had my motherboard replaced at THEN Ensoniq of Japan (because of rain damage) and it was all good.

I'm assuming the clubs you all are mentioning are where the gaijin hang, right? That's cool if it is- I can meet some people who'll hopefully show me around.

So the MP'll work no problem... Hopefully it'll be the same for the ipod, computer, etc. -I'm not even bringing any other electronics. I need to check the voltage specs...

Gaijin Why have them show you around when you can have a fine azz nihon-jin show you around.

Your MP will work in Japan...no problem. As stated earlier, they will work anywhere in the world...100V-240V.
