Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By chakbull Tue Dec 09, 2003 6:43 am
hello

i'm not very tender with my MPC2000XL (even if i love it) but i'm working with it quite a lot as it is my main sequencer. there's one button in particular which seems to be slowly dying, it's the NEXT BAR button. so far it works, but not as good as it used to be.

how can i prevent its death ? is the part hard to change ? i'm not afraid to open the big box.

thanks for any help

nothing to do to save it...

same thing happened with my [shift] button...sh*t died completely though...I've been shut down for 2+ months 1.5 of which it was sittin at this local place waiting to get fixed, and them not having the part...

...do a search of "button repair", there's a link to a repair shop there...the piece in question runs about $7.50

if you gon't ride it out, you may as well go ahead and order the part...it'll save you waiting for it to come after it's broke...

I REPLACED MY OWN SHIFT BUTTON ALL IT IS A SIMPLE MOMENTARY PUSH BUTTON , YOU CAN FIND THEM ANY WHERE I GOT MINE FROM A BROKEN VCR I HAD. YOU WILL NEED A SOILDER GUN BUT ITS A VERY SIMPLE SOILDER JUST DONT BURN THE BOARD

Does anyone know if you could replace say my down arrow button(I got to press real hard for it to work) with any other button on the mpc2000xl. I never use the next bar, next seq., or a couple other buttons either. I know how to solder but I just don't want to open up my mpc again.

I don't know what the inside of the buttons look like on a MPC, but on other drum machines I've had, when the buttons started to fail, all they needed was for the contact points to be cleaned. A can of compressed air, q-tips, and rubbing alcohol was all it took to fix it.
