How Do I Go About?

i want to chop samples up and make melodys in the mpc hwo do you people noramally do this cos it might be easier using a program on the computer what do u rekon?

Usually I sample single notes, as in ONE piano key, or a bass note, etc. and use the 16 levels key, set it to tuning, and then I have 16 variations of the same note to play melodies with.
