My Dream (2000xl adat connection)

Damn I wish my electronic skills were up to scratch cause I have been thinking recently how mad it would be that instead of having the 8 analogue outs how good it would be to have the option of 8 digital outputs via ADAT.

Surely this couldnt be that hard to do. The Z series samplers have it so why can't akai implement the same thing for the mpc?

Man, I hate cables and one light pipe cable instead if 8 chunky leads would be magnificent.

The adat job doesnt seem to me to be implausible. I am gonna be getting a 1000 for travel but I dont think I will ever get rid of my 2000xl, we have been through some rough times together but I got some wiz electronic friends and I might over the next couple of years try to get it done myself. Don't hold me to that though. haha

Just thought I would put the idea out there cause you never know someone might have or know someone with the nouse to get this done.

You can get an unit that convert 8 in (for example the mpc) to ADAT. But I dont know where you can find that.

That SM audio box looks affordabel enough to pull apart and give it a go.

I wasnt so much toalking about adat converters (I already got some RME interfaces) I just woould rather have a 8 adat outs straight from the back of the 2000xl as you can with the 4000 and z series samplers. It could easily fit into the 8 analogue out slot at the back of the 2000xl.

I wish we had the option like they do. To get into those converters you still need to 8 cables, I would rather just have a lightpipe cable coming straight out the back of my 2000xl. That would be mad.

Like I said that would be my dream but it would give the 2000xl something extra and it seems possible. Forat could do something like that no problems.

The MPC4000 and Z series use quite a bit different architecture.

I do not think Akai Pro made any samplers with V53 that used an ADAT interface. The S5000 is about the closest sampler to the MPC that has ADAT. Score us the service docs for the S5000 and is likely possible to design something.
