If i sample something like a horn which on the original sample only plays for say 1/4 of a bar, is there a way to sustain the sound for say 1 full bar (or more). So instead of hitting the pad and the sample just plays the 1/4 bar, i can hold the pad and it will play until i release the pad. I don't know if this makes sense but please get at me with some feedback. peace
this is on a 2kxl.

the only way to lengthen a sample is to pitch it down therefor slowing down the playback, or to timestretch. im not really sure if u will be able to achieve satisfactory results using either of the 2 methods. it may be possible to find a loop point in the sound somewhere and trigger it using 'note off', therefor playing the note for the full duration of the pad press, then fading out after the pad is released.

theres a way to create a sustain method.. copy the sample and use the same sample but played backwards.. this works best with samples that consists of an solo tone ...

theres one issue tho .. U can`t play back the sample on only one pad..

I use all the time to make the samples longer..

eiether time stretch it or loop it....

if you find a good loop point you can have it sustain indefinitly and then set the legnth in the step-edit screen....as all looped samples are automatically note off sample meaning you can hold the pad down as long as you want it to last....

wouldn't reversing the sample have a different sound to it? i haven't really had a chance to mess with that feature yet.

Loop Points

its in the manual so check it out. by assigning loop points you are selecting a part of your sample that the mpc will keep looping

this way, you can hit and hold a pad, it will play the beginning of the sample, then keep looping the bit you selected to loop, and when you release it will play the end bit

now go read the manual.
