2 questions..I dont get it

1.I load up a drum program,, then i find a sample and chop it up in zones.the i choose to create a new program and it runs over the old one..
And works the other way around if i first make the "zone" pgm then the drum pgm runs over it..Isnt it possible to run 2 prm at the same time on a song? main sequence got drum1-4 to choose from,,but i havent yet understood how to switch between them.

2.How do i sample to get the best quality,,i got about 4-5 knobs to turn.
Rec level,main volum,Pre amp level on the mixer,fx send on the mixer (outgoing sound) and master volume on the mixer.I have all of them on the middle.. its to many knobs

To answer your first question all you need to do is go into your pgm screen hit drum whatever then hit drum again. In this screen the position you will find your cursor in is the program ID number(pgm 1-4).

Now turn this to the pgm number you want to place your pgm in and then move your cursor down to the program assign line and turn the dial to the right until you get the pgm you want to play on that channel.

As for your second question, there's only one answer get the out put source set to a level you can always rely on. Dedicate a line on your mixer to sampling into your MPC this way you don't have to fiddle around everytime you try to sample. If your sampling from a CD and Turntable if possible run the two off "Y" cables/splitters to get the most out of the one line on your mixer if your lines are limited. This works well because you're never using them both at the sametime anyhow!

there is indeed a way to set up signal flow to ensure optimal sound quality and control over levels. its one of the first things you learn as an audio engineer, and one of the most important. oddly enough, its something hardly ANY dj's understand either. thats always seemed odd to me. anyway.
