Spray some compressed air into it. maybe that will dislodge whatever is in there.

if that dont work, its not too hard to take the top cover off and get in under the buttons.....

The problem is not the buttons but the switches. At 60 cents each, I just replace them,

How easy is it to replace the buttons, and where can I get them?

i took the mpc apart and iits a small button looks like it would be an easy fix for someone qualified to unsolder the button and solder a new one in its place.
