Problem triggering MPC2000XL using Sonar

Got a question but first let me explain my setup. I am using Sonar 2XL software. My controller board is a Motif ES8 amoung a total rack system. All of my patches and controlls are done thru Sonar. All I want to do is sync up the MPC to trigger on and keep time with my sequences in Sonar. I mostly complete my drum sequences in the MPC and put my patch cords directly in my mixer for direct sound input into my board. Whenever I hit record in Sonar the MPC does not sync up. But if I pull out the midi cord and key rec&play on the MPC it will say waiting for midi signal. I know that I should not have to keep putting the midi cord in and out.

Anyone have any help they can give?

i use a similar setup. Sonar is great.


set mpc to SLAVE mode

go into sonar and set it as master and turn the clock on

set the midi channels you want to record and go nuts.
