Just picked up the VST Multi-card reader kit for my 2kxl!

It's a little pricey but it works like a charms and I liked how they have a custom power cable so I didn't have to jerry-rig it. Plus they threw in a cf card with some sounds on it. All around I am pleased. The old floppy had to go, it would be all buggy sometimes.

Krux - Well they are alright for something free with purchase. I did like some of the cymbals and hit hats. They were really nice and crisp.


Lamp - You said it best, I really feel I have stepped up. Even with the 128mb card they gave me its leaps and bounds for the 1.44 floppies I was f***in with before. Plus the biggest thing I like it now my machine is quiet and it seems to loads the samples a little quicker.


Now I have to go buy a Multicard reader for my PC so I can get it all setup. I knew I forgot something, atleast this will be a cheap buy.

Yep, that's how I do it.

mpc2kxl internal cf reader.
pc - usb card reader.

About to head to the store right now and get mine. Now I am just waiting on my: 8-out, Memory upgrade and STMP chip and I will be set.

I need to get up off my butt and get the 8 outs also.

I'm just lazy and haven't done it yet. I keep talking about
and talking about it but haven't done it yet..

Same as I've been talking about the 4k.. It's BIG though and I don't want something that big but I really could use some of the features that I'm lacking in the 2kxl.

8-out: If you do decide the get one I recommend Rogue Music, for $195 you can't really beat that deal.

4K: I am new to this whole Akai series of machines. Lamp can you let me know what are the features the 4K has that the 2kxl doesnt have.

You'll have to brush up on the manuals for each machine for
the spcifics AND the addendums of the updated OS's for each machine.
a bit of reading but it's all the for the better.

Thanks, I go check out the manual. I have noticed alot of producers roll the 4k's now.
