Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just upgraded to OS 1.20 on my 2000XL. It seems to be stuck on a screen that just says ""Loading:MPC2KXL.BIN" it's been almost an hour. What can i do to fix the issue?

I've seen this happen plenty of times.

The OS file has been corrupted on download, on disk or in flash memory.

Did this happen:

While you were upgrading ?

Or after you had performed the upgrade ?

Either way ...

Your MPC2000XL boot block loader seems to still be functioning in some capacity.

Is the floppy drive still fitted in your machine ?

If so ...

You could try and see if the machine will re-load a freshly created version of the *OS.BIN" file.

My feeling is that it will work this way ok if the created *OS.bin file has been extracted directly to a freshly formatted dos format floppy disk.

If you can't re-load the OS this way then an OS recovery ROM may need to be installed for the purpose of cleanly re-loading/re-flashing the entire internal flash rom.

Rohan.

As it turns out, my CF card had something wrong with it.

Thanks

Cool ... so a reload went OK then ?

Hope so.
