ZIP-MAC-MPC 2000 compatibility question

Before anyone spazzes on me again, please realize I'm using an MPC 2000 not an XL.

That being said, Does anyone have tips on maximizing my MAC's ability to store WAV samples on a 250 ZIP disc?

My current problem:

I've loaded up 210 samples with my MAC using up only 90 MB, and it tells me my directory is full. Creating subfolders won't work because the 2000 can't open them (unless anyone knows a trick)

Can I format or partition the zip on MAC so that it can be read by my MPC, purely for loading WAVs?

Can a MAC read MPC partitioning?

Does anyone know how many files a Mac will store on a ZIP or how file name legth affects things?

Any advice and info would be appreciated.

Well, i have a 2000XL (yes i know you have a 2000) and i have been swapping 100mg Zip disks between my MPC and my Macs. My MPC formatted disks are read without problem by the Macs. You can format a Zip disk on a Mac that the MPC can read. Just format it using the DOS formatting option on your Mac. As for how many files a Mac will store on a Zip, that depends on the size of the files. Filenames longer than eight characters (not counting the extension) will be truncated by the MPC and everything after the eighth character will be replaced by a "~".

Thanks for the info. Assuming each file is about 1/2 MB each, how many should I be able to fit? Does filename length affect this? I seem maxed out at 210 files, on a 250 MB disk, even though there's 163 MB free. WIll smaller filenames help solve this?
