Partion the zip.

It's kind of like making folders but since the 2k can't read folders this is a way around it.Just keep all your seqs.,pmgs. and sonds in the same partion. It'll be easier to find and load.

He meant Partition the zip

When you formaton your MPC, you can set partitions. Its a letter value (Starts at A-A, goes to I think A-J). Each letter is a partition. Set it at A-D and you'll have four partitions (A,B,C & D). Got it?

I would just make folders named by song.

i save the program, the sequence, and if i put it in song mode, the song, all on the same partition. I name them all with the same "root" name, like for instance, i got a beat called Millie, so the program is millie, the main sequence is millie, and the other sequences are millie2, millie3, etc.

oh yeah, i dont save all programs or sequences, i save them all individually, dont know if that matters.

if your on a classic 2k, you cant make folders.

SO SAVE THE PROGRAMS & SEQ USING THE SAME NAME RIGHT? I DONT REALLY EVER USE THE SONG MODE ANYWAY.. WHAT ABOUT THE SAMPLES DO I SAVE THEM WITH THE SAME ROOT NAME TOO?

nah, just save them with any name. i mean, your gonna use those drums on other beats one day.

just save the program, thats all ya sounds.

then for instance in the future you want to re use some of the sounds, just scroll through the sounds and load up individual ones you want

oh yeah, and when you want to reload the sequence, its actually under the MID files not the SEQ files. i know it seems wierd, but thats how it is on my mpc.

so when loading them into the mpc, i dont need to load the programs? jus the midi seq? the problem i had was that other samples were playing on other sequences.

i guess that depends on the quality of your sounds .
because ive been recently makin .pgm's for my 2000x
because im limited to the 3.5 in. flop
i use the 3.5 with pgm's of kits .. stabs .. hits ..
its a great tool IMHO (for me at least) i can swap sounds quckly
eve load a new one .. the 3.5 isnt that bad ..
but it does get a bit tedious .. i have about 15 or 20 3.5's
made now with sounds from my library

tsk tsk tsk my ass, i have some drum sounds i use about 1 in 5 beats, but they never sound the same. i like to layer sounds, and flowers with pitches and ish. but hey, if hes never ever gonna load iindividual sounds off the zip, thats fine with me.

and yeah, you gotta save the sequences and the program seperately.

if other samples are playing on the wrong sequence, just hit shift and program, and change the program to match the sequence.
