RAM

Ok, this has proberly been sorted a million times, and I've tried the search function, but it's s***, so I was wondering if anyone on here can help
I got a new XL, and was wondering how the ram worked. I wanna put the full 32mb in, But do I need 2 16mb sticks, or can I put a single 32mb in?
Sorry if I've repeated a previous thread, but I need help...

You can do it either way. Some people put the 2-16's in just in case one goes bad you'll still have the other 16(+2)mb to work with.
I got the 32mb stick in mine and haven't had any poblems.

Is it just normal EDO SIMM 70n/s RAM?

Q. What type of memory will work in my MPC2000XL?
A. You should use 72-pin Fast Page or EDO SIMMS with a speed rating of 70 ns (nanoseconds) or faster. They can be either parity or non-parity (if parity is present it will be ignored), and should have gold leads. The MPC2000XL supports 16 MB and 32 MB SIMMS. However we recommend using 2 x 16 MB SIMMS because the manufacturing specifications of 32 MB SIMMS have changed slightly since the introduction of the MPC2000XL and we have discovered that not all 32 MB SIMMS will work.

guys i just baught memory and i have a similar question.. i didnt wanna start a new topic so here goes... i just baught ram off ebay... is installing ram as easy as opening the mpc up and clicking the ram in ?
is there anything i could do wrong? like burn the mpc or somethin >?
let me know plz i tried searching and this is one of the first threads that might hav somethin to do with my question

PS i just baught my mpc and i did not get a manual.. went on akaipro but cant print... printers busted
so thats y im askin

Make sure the MPC is unplugged when you install the RAM. Installing the RAM is easy. It goes in at a slight angle into the mounts and snaps in upright.

Beware of static charge!!!! Touch a lightswitch (the metal screw part works best) to discharge any static energy you have in you. Then make sure you keep one hand on the MPC chassis (this will keep you and the MPC as one "unit" so no charge will transfer through the card when you install it) while you snap the memory in with the other hand.
