I lost so much music because of zips. I had back-ups of back-ups. I lost over 5 disks in one month. I have been through 5 internal drives + 2 external. I just got rid of my xl at that point and got a 1000. Now with the new OS, it's the sh!t. I do miss the old xl is some ways. I couldn't take the high-pitched shine those drives used to make. Not to mention it takes forever to load 4 drum programs full of samples.

Actually I really don't miss the XL now that I think about it..

If you formatted your Zip Disk on the MPC with any OS besides 1.20, then your PC won't recognize it. You wanna format Zips on your PC, then both machines will read/write them.

I thought I was the only person loosing the war against ZIP disk drives. mine just sits there and clicks for about 30 minutes to an hour, and then finally loads up.

.....Bad thing is, I never thought to try a different disk :shock:

Once you here clicks from your disk, eject that shit swift quick and toss it. Faulure to do so will inevitably cause the " Click of Death".

I've never had problems with Zip disks, really!

But my reason for moving is more because card readers are SILENT - you don't have to hear that high-pitched sound all the time, card readers are FAST - no spin-up time and they also have higher storage capacity. I got my MPC files stored on a 512MB CF card.
