Small Technical Question....

OK , I have a sample that I chopped up and put on 4 different pads....I want each one to cut each other off once the next pad is pressed, so i set up as follows.... pad 1 stops when pad2 is pressed (now for ppl who use this feature you alreddy know that in order to make it work fluent, you have to set pad1 to cut off when pad 2 is pressed , and then go to pad 2 and make it so that pad1 cuts off pad 2 when pad 1 is pressed) pad2 is stopped when pad 3 is pressed , pad 3 stops when pad 4 is pressed , and then pad4 comes bak to pad1 when its pressed......heres the catch.... is there a way to make pad 1 and pad 3 cut each other off? I got a beat and its some bangin sh*t, but then it annoys me cause I CAN kinda hear pad 1 and 3 partially overidiin each other when I play my sequence....does anyone have a resolution?

I know how to set it up so that each time another pad is pressed it cuts the other one off, but I'm havin a problem wit makin pad 1 & 3 cut each other off...being that pad 1 is assigned to cut off wit pad 2 and pad 4 ..and pad3 is assigned to be cut off by pad 4 and pad 2, hence leavin no more "assigns" for pads 1 or 3 ..... The remedy isn't in the book..I'm workin wit a mpc2xl by the way

Then that's it, you can't have more than 2 pads cut off each other, that's all you get.

You'll have to go into step edit and MANUALLY (I know people hate the word) edit the decay value for each note to end when they next sound plays.

that sounds difficult.,.,I neva really f*cked wit step editing.,.,it jus sounds complicating.,.,theres a few things that I ain't really try.,.,like in shift + program mode.,.,theres that sectin at the bottom where yu can set decay swing aND ALL theez other options.,.I'm not familiar wit that.,.I was gonna post something on here to see if someone knew what they useful for and how exaclty it works..,cuz it loox mad confusing

Nice MPC2KXL SE3 picture where did you get. By the way step edit is the best thing that akai could have ever put on the MPC, once you learn it it super simple. If you need help I'll do my best to explain.

best thing to do instead of asking someone a basic ass question and getting flamed, is, read the manual, create a basic sequence you can play around with and push the buttons in the book and follow along w/ the mpc while you are reading. step edit is when you control EACH and ecery pad bang. volume, pan, decay etc. I won't get into any of the midi parts of it but you can manipulate each pad bang. it's not hard at all.

create a play sequence and try out different stuff in the book. that's all.

what did you buy the machine for if you aren't going to dive headfirst into it anyway? it won't make beats for you, YOU control the machine don't let it intimidate you.

Ohhh Boy, Here I go gettin bashed by the pro's on the Mpc...U know how everyone has there own way of makin beats, and there comfortable wit it? Well thats what it is for me.,,.I know how to operate my mpc..I've had for quite a while.,.I just never **** wit step editing thas all...and to the guy who has the same icon as myself,if u can please do explain it....I don't believe theres anyone on this page that no's that machine in every aspect front to back out the manual.,.,cuz trust me I read my maual front to back until I knew2 how to operate and I did what worked for me...an its been enuff of a success to sell to the big wigs in the industry..,.,so when u say check the manual, I have but sometimes the manual is a lil confusing,..,ya dig?

Lamp dog, what exactly you mean by control the bang? the velocity?

grab your manual, and follow along on your mpc in step edit and you can see what you can control in there. It's in the manual.
