I just saw a video of a beatmaker who was playing keyboard and recording sequences with his mpc. take a look at this video, you will understand my question: http://malefactor.org/beatmakingvideos/rick_rock.wmv

how his keyboard send sound to his mpc ? It is just midi and the keyboard plays the sound that is on the mpc ? or it is the sound of the keyboard who is send to the mpc ?

please help me understand. If you are able to answer my question, can you explain me how he do that ?

Thanks a lot :D :D

his keyboard sends sounds to the mpc thru midi. he records the keyboard sounds as a sequence with the mpc. You can play the keyboard sounds on the mpc pads also.

No it dont. His keyboard sends midi messages to the mpc. The mpc sequences the midi signals sent from the keyboard. The sound from the keyboard is played through a mixer.

yea if any gear that you have has MIDI ins/outs on it, then its possible to connect them all together. but when your working with more then one piece of gear and you need to hear all of them at the same time, then you'll need a mixer.

@ Marcskills: Do you have any idea what midi is about ?

Get the audio outputs of keyboard and mpc connected to a mixer. Now connect midi out of the keyboard to a midi in on the MPC and connect the mpc midi out to a midi in on the keyboard. If possible turn the MIDI LOCAL setting on the keyboard off. With this configuration you will be able to trigger sounds on the mpc via the keyboard and the other way around + sequence keyboard sounds on the MPC.
