problem with making a zone new sample

heres the problem
i got a sample, i zone edited it to a new sound(was the same as the first with a z at the end). now i tried to do it agian with a different zone, went to edit, zone>new sample, its default name was the same w/ the z at the end, so i changed the z to y, and the press do it, then it says name allready used. so then i changed the name completley and got the same name allready used.
any help please

when you changed it from z to y, did you press enter before you pressed do it? if you dont press enter, the mpc wont rename the sound... otherwise what you are doing should work
