setting up MIDI with microKORG and 2000XL?

Im working with a microKorg and the 2000XL, my problem is when i hit a key on the microkorg i get drumkit sounds from the MPC? can someone please walk me through the proper setup, so i can record the Korg sounds in the MPC. Currently i have the midi cables in handshake, on the korg MIDI CH: 1, LOCAL:OFF, and MIDI CLOCK:EXTERIOR. on the MPC i changed drumkit to midi and use device 1A and on the MIDI SYNC screen i set both input and output to midi clock with send receive MMC:ON......whats the proper set up? thanks

When you switch the tracks to MIDI what kind of sounds do you get? And when you switch to MIDI do you turn the DRUM tracks off (i.e. DRUM 1, 2 and so on?) You should hear the engine playing on keys and you should hear it respond when you hit pads.

change the drum1, or whatever to midi, only for the channels that dont trigger internal sounds. aka the ones for the microkorg. pizzaz.

I have the same hook up! I cant get my MPC to record what I'm playing on the Keyboard. It just transfer sounds into the pads. I you get any tips please holla @ me pimp!! Thanks.

i have the same setup except i have the classic 2000. just make sure u have te korg's out connected to the mpc's in and vice versa. then change the track to midi 1a. make sure u select the program on the mpc. that might be what ur not doing. it will change the program on the korg (chooses sound u want to use). then play the korg and ur in business. its not complex at all. holla if u need more help.

to get both playing at the same time (your sig)...

get a mixer,(i use a cheap ub1002 behringer ), put the mpc main out to the mixers line in, and do the same for the microkorg Audio out, and you'll be able to hear both at the same time....from the same speakers

I have this set-up, it only took about five minutes to get it going.

Make shure you have midi clock turned on (mpc) make shure your microkorg has the proper midi settings ie, make shure micro korg is set to channel 1, ext, send on, and your plugs are in the right spot.

Its like hooking up a VCR, you will get the hang of it.

Make shure you are on a Midi track on the mpc.

Once you get this figured out, you should be good.

im having the same problum now.... i got the same set up it just dosnt seem to work, i turn the mpc midi clock on and im sure the microkorg is set to set to channel 1 - ext - send on {how can i double check}, the sounds are going into the pads of the mpc however when i go to record a loop the korg goes onto a diff area and plays a completley differnt sound, and thatisnt even being recorded onto the mpc..... im obviously doin summin wrong but dunno wat... please help.

i think we need to look and study midi versus audio output to solve this problem ,USE THE SEARCH OPTION peace
