Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

first off, thank you all for being so helpful. i really appreciate it. i got the drive to work, but now, it only reads discs that i formatted on the new internal drive. any old disc i had saved using the external comes up "?????". and to boot, it now wont recognize the EXTERNAL drive, but will recognize the (new) internal drive. again, you guys are are saints for helping me out with this stuff-im sure will all end up in heaven.

Your internal works fine now from what you explained right..?

Your external is SCSI so maybe you can check the jumpers in the back.

On my 2kxl I have an internal 250zip and external SCSI CDROM and they work together fine..

I'm not sure if this info could lead to a resolve...but did you install an internal SCSI zip drive or an ATAPI zip drive? Maybe you installed a SCSI drive and somehow disrupted your external connection? I think ATAPI is recommended.

oh well, at the very least this post bumps your question to the top of the forum. :D

There is no "internal" SCSI drive.

For external you have SCSI (connection on back)
Try jumpers 5 or 6 and it should work unless it's a parallel drive.

For internal you have ATAPI IDE (IDE connection on motherboard)
Try jumpers on the back between the data cable and pwr cable
and set to single drive.
