8 outs

can someone give me a couple of good reasons to invest in 8 outs for my mpc and what it actually does

If you are looking to track beats on a larger or professional scale you need this. It will allow you to tweek your tracks one by one for a better sound. Processing your sounds one by one verses your total beat eq'd on two channels of your mixer

I don't use the 8 outs on my MPC or my S2K, but use the s/pdif, which is why I got the board for the MPC2KXL. That way I can bypass my crappy small mixer and put the s/pdif outs direct in to my Gina audio card's s/pdif ins. :)

In short it's just the digital out. Same as the stereo outs only digital not analog. If you chose so instead of running RCAs' or 1/4 lines various pieces of equipment Professional and consumer offer you the option of running one of these lines. Oh yeah you might be familiar with it by another description like coaxial. It's perfect for those without multitrack recorders yet own CDRW burning decks. It allows you to record straight to a burner deck with ease. You can also sample this way using your digital in on the MPC when you sample from say CD or other various sources.

With the 8 output board - can you send a different sound to each channel - eg a kick on one, a snare on another and then wire them out into an external mixing desk?

Yes, that is the whole point of 8 outs.

I guessed so, didn't wanna jump too deep without checking first.

Does it say in the original MPC manual how to do this? I got my MPC second hand and there doesn't seem to be any documentation for the output board?

Also note without the 8 outs u are allowed a max of TWO tracks at a time. Pan one hard left and the other hard right. Add the 8 outs u have a total of 10 outs.
