midi keys

Ive had this old keyboard with midi functions for ages and finally got some cables for it, ive got it on the 'handshake' method.
The first day i plugged it in, i mucked around for a bit and manged to get the sounds from my program on the keys, so u could play drums, samples etc with the keyboard.
Problem is i dont know how i did it, i can work it the other way round so i can use the mpc pads to play the keyboard but its pretty pointless.

Any help would be much appreciated, ive been tryin on and off for about 3 days now.

I cant wait for somebody to help U out on this one cuz i have had similar problems too.

Which keyboard u have? Tell me that and i'll type out all the connections. If still need help hit me up on AIM or Yahoo. Usually available 24 hours a day.

whats ya AIM i will hit U up ASAP!

Connect the keyboard´s MIDI Out to one of the MPC´s MIDI Ins.
Connect as well the keyboard´s MIDI In to one of the MPC´s MIDI Outs.

Make sure that the MPC´s track you are playing on is a DRUM track that a program is assigned to.
Better switch the channel number that the keyboard is sending on to "1".
(this should work in any case).
Now check what note numbers the MPC´s samples are assigned to and play these notes on the keyboard.

How about overdubbing the keyboard sound over a beat Playing on the MPC already?

Need help just hit me up on Aim or Yahoo. I will explain every detail. Thats why i didnt list information b/c i need to know your setup and I need for you to be near your gear(if possible) so we can go throught it together step by step.

I think you mean letting the MPC play the keyboard via MIDI and the MPC´s internal samples simultaniously, right?

In this case you should connect the keyboard like to be seen above.

It worked in a weird way for me but not satisfying enuff.This is what i did.
I took My midi cables.put the cable in the Midi-Out for The keyboard then connected the midi cable into the MPC midi-in

Then on the sequence:I set track 1 as s:Drum1,Track 2 as S:Drum1,then Track 3 S:Midi
pushed play,my beat recorded earlier started playing,then i playsed the keyboard but no sound came out after over dubbing.
But when i connected the Midi cable Into the keyboard's Midi In and put the midi cable into the MPC midi out,set Track 1&2 as Drum1 then track 3 as S:midi the sound recorded earlier played but it wasnt accurate.Still confusing any suggestions?
