MPC & tr808 sync

i am syncing the mpc2000xl (os ver 1.14) with the tr808 (mpc master, 808 slave) using the Kenton interface without any problem. the thing is that i have to push the "play start" button in order to send the midi clock, which means that if i want to run the 808 as a slave, i need to start playing the sequence always from the beginning...is there a way sending the midi clock using the "play" button?

It depends on the implementation of Midi Beat clock in your kenton interface.
Midi clock usually consists of two things: The tempo and the song position pointer. The SPP is what tells a sequencer where to start in a sequence. If your Kenton isn't capable of this then your 808 won't pickup in the middle of a sequence and your out of luck.

I guess it needs to find the first tick in the clock otherwise it gets lost.

i think they will only sync from the position " 0 " as it does in logic with the kms-30, so play will work if you move the sequencer all the way back to 0

I am using the Kenton PRO-2000 MkII (using the sync24 of course). I am quite sure that the "problem" is in the MPC not sending the clock using the "play" button, cause if i slave the 808 to Cubase SX sequencer (and set correctly the cubase settings), instead of the MPC, i manage to sync the 808 from any position in the sequence that i choose. not only from the beginning of the sequence.
I thought that there might be some settings of the MPC that i have missed..
again, using the "play start" button, everything works perfectly.

Why don't you just sample the 808 into the MPC?

not sampling the 808 cause i want the analog sound in a Live situation. i love the sound of it and it will be a shame to sample it. i am also keep on processing its sound with effects like Sherman filter and the outcome is not the same while processing a sample. maybe sampling the 808 can be handy if i will not find a sulotion for the production phase in the studio, but in live situation i am using the MPC to send midi sequences to the different analog machines. i agree that usually i dont need to start a playing a sequence from the middle, but still it will be nice to have this option...
