Mute groups in MPC2000XL?

I know there is no such feature as mute groups in 2000XL. Just a mute assign of two samples (very limited), this works well with three samples but is very limited if you want like 8 samples to cut each other.
Does anybody know any trick to simulate "mute groups" or "one voice polyphony" for multiple samples?

AFAIK, there is no way to simulate it perfectly. You are limited to the 3 samples. If you always played them in a certain order, you could have sample 2 cut sample 1, sample 3 cut sample 2 and so on... but that rarely will ever be the case. A time-gruling method to manually simulate would be to go back and change the decay for each sample as needed. That would suck having to do, but could get a similar effect.

Eventually you reach the capacity of the MPC's sampler and have to step up to a stand alone sampler or a 4k. I just picked up a Z4 and its lifting so many previous limitations.

Too bad 2000xl doesn't feature that.
One alternative is using note off in every sample and later manually adjust whats necessary.
There are some workarounds, but they don't fit exactly the workflow I want.
