Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

After reading the manual ( the part about program edit etc.. )
of my 2kxl, i still don't understand what i'm doing wrong.

My problem is:
If i slice a beat and put it chopped up on 16 pads and record a sequence with it, then if i chop up a melody line and put them in another bank the sequence starts playing my chopped up melody instead of the chopped up beat.

I seem to make mistakes with putting the sliced melody in the wrong pgm or bank or whateva.

wtf could it be?

I could be wrong or not understanding you fully as I am new myself. but did you put your melody in as a different track in the seq? :?:

Sounds like you want to study Program/Drum assignment. By default the MP will make a new program every time you use the zone & slice feature.

Like LB said, when you use the zone slice feature 2kxl will place your new program on drum 1, moving your old program to drum 2. At that point nothing in your sequence is lost, you just need to go into your programs and reassign/switch drum1 and drum2 around.

Read up on program assignement in the manual.

and what if i don't select the option " make a new program "?
then the mpc will put the slices in the bank where the initial sample was?
same pgm like the beat for instance but for example bank b?
