Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By jayboogie Thu Aug 03, 2006 5:01 pm
In the MPC 2000XL? someone recommend I get this done instead of getting a 250mb internal zip drive installed, whats everyones take on this, as I can't afford to shell out all that money, and then it doesn' work that good, i'm desperate cause my MPC is collecting dust cause my external SCSI zip drives keep malfunctioning and i'm sick of them!

Really? Is it that easy or are you just that good with that sort of stuff?

Also, aside from it not breaking down a lot like the zip drive, how is it with getting sounds? Cause the good thing about the Zip Drive, someone can just give you a Zip disk full of great sounds and you just put it in and starting banging out, my question is, how hard/easy it to get sounds in the format needed for the MPC.

Last but not least, where can I get one of these Multi Card readers, and what would I need to make everything work smoothly once I get it?

your gunna want a few CF cards and a card reader for your pc also (newegg.com). so you can go back and forth pc-mpc. itll work just like zipdisks do.. except up to 2gigs of storage on a tiny little card.. plus they are silent. and a 1gig card is only 19$. loads shit faster than zip too.

easy as hell to install. works perfect. try searching these forums this has been posted hundreds of times.

Sorry for not doing a better search on this topic, but you i'm just so dam frustrated cause everytime i'm close to where I need to be, BOOM, another setback,

My cousing had my MPC, for over 3 years because he was more advanced than me so I let him use it, but I haven't been able to use it since I got it back.

BUT I really appreciate the info you guys shared with me.

Thanks again. :D

I searched high and low for a black one. I could not find any that would work with the mpc. you could goto car parts shop and get some paint tho. would be pretty easy job. I just ordered replacment knobs, wheel, fader for my xl. Painting them with gloss white car paint.. then doing the black pads and black front panel.. eventually having my friend airbrush my top plate.

Get a card drive. It's quiter and you won't have to replace it as often as a zip drive, IF AT ALL -- NO MOVING PARTS. In this day in age, I think all froms of media in samplers should be memory cards. It's hard to ever imagine someone trying to save their work on a 1.44mb floppy.
