MPC2000XL effects cards

Recently I've been editing samples (ranging from breaks to loops) w/ my mpc2000XL by changing the frequency and resonance levels under the programs-parameters menu. Though these two functions are very useful, I'm not completely satisfied with the results. I've been looking into an effects board but I can't find any audio files comparing the original sample to an effects process sample. I have an mpc2000xl and an Emu 1212M soundcard, but recently I find myself using the mpc far more than the PC. (I mostly use the 1212M to record from vinyl. Sometimes for the effects.)

Anyways, my questions:
1.) Can anybody provide audio demonstrating unprocessed samples vs processed samples?
2.)Am I wasting my time looking into an effects board if I own an Emu 1212M?
3.)MFC42 vs. EB16

i have the emu 1212m too, also the eb16...

The emu 1212m's patchmix dsp is software in ur pc... the eb16 is hardware for in ur mpc... so i don't see why you would be wasting time looking into the eb16 or whatever...

As or the 1212m effects.. they alright... sum nice eq and compression on it.

As for the eb 16... i have it for a few weeks now... but i'm not using it a lot. I don't think the fx are that good.

I just use cubase and a softsampler to load my sounds in apply effects and let the mpc do the sequencing.

MFC42 vs. EB16
2 different peices for 2 different purposes, can't compare them.

I've been looking into an effects board but I can't find any audio files comparing the original sample to an effects process sample.
Just sitck with your pc effects and save your money.

I don't think the fx are that good.
If you already have effects a hardware multitracker for effects or PC for effects then stay that route. It's a good little card but imo it's not meant to hang with the boys but people keep wanting to compare it with the big boys. If you have hardware/software efx then you will want and/or need this card.

Jacpot= how much do u offer? (cos i will for the right price it's new)

Lampdog= ur right... i only bought the fx card for traveling.. so i can use fx when i'm not at home yaknow?

The problem with the EB-16 is it's a tweaker card, if you understand effects and will take the time to work with it the advantages become pretty obvious.
If you what to dial in an effect and get what you are looking for then it's a hard sell.
I wouldn't use a 2000 without it because I am use to using it to strenthen and expand certain types of sounds and the routing is in the box.
The built in FREQ and RESO on the XL is a pretty odd sound (not like on the 3k), using just the EQ on the EB gives you much better results and thicker sounds when used correctly.
