Mpc 2kxl and technics 1210?

Hi i want to connect my 1210 directly to my mpc but when i do this i am experiacing a ground loop as there is no where to earth the 1210 on the mpc. do any of you guys know how to get around this? i also have a behringer mx8000 mixing console. and a numark dj mixer which has earthing facilities on it. however i dont want to use the dj mixer if at all possible . hope that makes sense! thanks guys

find a ground on the reciever or something else that does have a ground. by the way , on most turntables it will sound like sh*t when u hook up the phono signal directly the the mpc audio input. your turntable either has to have a phono to line output conversion option on it. Or the turntable needs a preamp to change the phono signal to line.

or get a tt with a line out like the stanton str8 series, no preamp or ground needed...

According tho the manuel you cant hook up directly to the mpc witha turntable because its needs that pre amp. like Nicole said mixer and problem solved

You need a mixer/preamp to control the volume so that you don't get any distortion.

Turn tables require a preamp. You don't necessarily need a d.j. mixer, but you need a preamp.

It looks like a little box with RCA in and RCA out, and a power supply.
You can plug your turntable directly into the MPC, or anything for that matter without harming anything. It's just that you won't get anything out of it because the output is so low.

Have you ever noticed why you can turn the power off on an SL 1200 and you can still here the track slowing down????

It's because the cartridge is MAGNETIC, is unamplified and is putting out a very quiet signal, hence needing the PREAMP.

If you wanted to try grounding your turntable to your MPC just loosen one of the screws on the chassis. This will not harm anything.

You could find one of these for like $10 at Radio Shack.

if i ever want to sample from my tt i go into sound forge and normalize the sample or eq if needed. when ever i tried to run my tt str8 to my mpc the signal was tooo weak, even with the record gain up all the way and the tt grounded

I always use a dj mixer in between the mpc and the str-80. Even if it can provide a line level signal and has a spdif out. The signal that I get via the dj mixer is "hotter" and you can tweak it via the dj mixer eq.
