Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

But I figure I'll try, anyway...

Are there any 3rd party manufacturers that make an ADAT option for the 2000xl or some kind of kit to make your own or ANYTHING? I just want 8 digital outs instead of 8 analogue outs since I'm currently in the process of switching my studio around (getting an RME Digiface and want to interface directly with that, cuting out the AD conversion). It couldn't be that hard, since the signal is digital to begin with...

Just this alone almost makes me want to "upgrade" to the 4000 or wait for the next generation MPC to come out. But they'll both have more crap on them that I'll never use, so who knows.

Anyway, I'm not getting my hopes up...

By the way, why is the signal BIT rate so important?

Can you hear the diference between 16 and 24 bit? I doubt it!

The human ear is not that sensative.

16 bit is cd quality, 24bit is "Mastering" quality. The only real purpose for this number is straight up recording.

Trust me, the 16 is just fine! There is nothing you cant do with what is available in todays audio technology! If you are not pleased with your 16 bit, rout that sound through your fx/signal processor of choice. Your ears will be pleased!

Oh well, I knew it was just a fantasy.

Not following you about where the bit rate comment came up???

I just want this to simplify my signal chain... to have one less piece of equipment to worry about, but I think I can deal.

No, my ears can't tell the difference between 16 and 24 bit. The way I always understood it was that recording and effects was done at a higher bit rate so there would be more headroom and resolution for the effects and mixing before it's bit-reduced during mastering.

Also as a marketing gimick *cough128ksampleratecough*...

Anyway, thanks for the response!
