I thought that you can trackout through pad number not what track you recorded that pad on.

i try to use as many tracks as possible cuz i dont track out to anything, and when i do record i record into my computer mic/line in jack and record it in realtime straight to mp3, so during this process im looking at the track mute screen the whole time--switchin things up.
and sometimes i use 2, 4 8, or 16 bar sequences, depending on what im wokring with.

Okay I think I can clear things up a little here. If Someone was going to go from the MPC to Two track recorder seperating tracks in the MPC would be easier to do drops and what ever else. For others who use Hardware Or Software DAW systems it woudn't matter because you would have every thing on is on track anyway to do drops and such, or people just two track in a DAW to Master their whole song. I usually Just track out 4 bar seqs to software DAW and finish the song that way using better effects plug-ins and such. Anyway good post Jacpot.

P.S. Tight Videos too homey

I am 2 bar. Of course sometimes it calls for 4, maybe 8. But mainly 2 bar loops, no change ups. Sometimes I do 1 bar if the beat is right.........wutang ish.

If its 4 bars.........most of the time its actually 2 bar and just subtle change up, or a-a-a-b pattern. If its 8 bars, usually its 2 bar with a drum roll/stutter at the end of 8 bars

BUt if you have good emces, and good beat, 2 bars is all you need. But of course, some instruments wont drop until the corus. For example some backing strings or small little hook that goes with the chorus.

actually several times Ive made whole songs with bridges, changeups etc. and have had emcees tell me just to loop a certain part?! so they ended up being 2 bar loops, go figure? when it all boils down to it, I think the best hiphop tracks are 2 bars with subliminal changes in the back ground. Like sound fx, random dings, accents, background noise.

well, the reason I like to separate my drums......is because then I can just change the velocity of the tracks to mix the hihats, kicks, snares. yeah, you can also change the velocity on the pads themselves, but i find it easier to just mess with the tracks.

Plus all my kicks, hihats, snares are all separated and "organized" so to speak. If I want to edit something, there is less to go through in step edit.

and say for example I got everything groovin how I like, except for maybe a couple kicks. I can just redo that kick track ->play start + record. You dont have to go to erase first or **** with step edit;

and of course. track mute. I can do a hihat drop, or a snare drop.
