hi,
i looked for a way to solve my problem for two days now. searching the forum has brought up similar cases, but nothing really explained to me what i need to do (same as the manuals). i hope i wont stress you with this coz its hard for me to explain the problem, im really new to this whole midi thing but i love it (if it works).
my problem is similar to dj shake´s, my 2kxl has midi latency problems with cubase. my interface is a tascam us-224. i dont understand, but heres what happens:
i got kontakt-vst and trilogy-vst on my pc for use with cubase. i like the mpc pads so much, sometimes i just wanna use them just as my midi-keyboard for the vst´s or pre-record the midi data in the mpc-sequencer.
so when i record a midi sequence to the mpc and its quantized, the vst plugin will be played with a short latency afterwards (but i cant feel the latency when i hit the pads). so far this only smells like my interface, but heres the funny part, my mpc is synced with cubase (it works perfect if i record internal mpc sounds to audio) and when i record the midi sequence to cubase the latency wont be the same (for some reason the midi data in cubase is too early - i dont have a clue how this can be, but i had that problem before, my cubase seems to have foresighted abilities also if i just use my midi keyboard with it). It results in kind of a double hit of each note when both sequencers are on, so i know something cant be right. so basically there is no way for me to record midi for vst in real time coz its not syncronized.
next thing that confuses me: the latency in which the vsts are played differs sometimes when i start and stop the playback numerous times....
i hope the right questions is:
- do i have to set the mpc´s sync out in a way for that? what i tried didnt work
- if anybody uses cubase, i cant find a window that allows me to change buffers or latencies etc. My us-224 software can change latency (only one switch for audio AND midi), but its allready on the shortest latency possible. do you know what to do? and have you experienced somewhat like midi data that was recorded in time suddenly be played slightly too early?
thanks for your help, sorry if this is too confusing.
