Can the MPC 2000 XL go to a computer by way of

I am brand new to this forum type of thing, so please bare with me. I recently upgraded from a 2000 to a 2000xl. I want to do the same as chop and hook up my xl to my computer. I just bought a usb to scsi adapter, thinking this would be perfect but after reading this it sounds like i need to also purchase an internal scsi hard drive. Can someone tell me if this is correct.

Am I hooking up the internal hard drive to the scsi line in the xl and then hooking up the external line to my pc? Is there anything in particular I have to after this. i just got it and I don't want to blow it up.

Nope but the easier solution that works as well is to get and internal card reader (no moving parts less prone to wear than a harddisk) and an external usb cardreader for your computer.

Thank pt3r I appreciate it. I will probably go with the hard disk as I was impatient over the weekend and bought all the stuff for it. The card reader is good, but I am trying to avoid, putting a disk in the computer and then loading it to the MP, I am hoping that I will be able to transfer data from the coputer directly to the MP Hard disk and then load to the RAM.

Am I right in my thinking. I hope I don't sound like an idiot, I think I get the idea. My other question is how would I go about transferring the data?

Well I am sorry I know I left that part out, but I do have SCSI on the computer as well. The idea is
In my Studio I have two Servers that host most of my Samples, Loops, and other odd files I used. I have about 2GB of just sounds on one drive. I would have like to take the MPC from the back of it and run it right in to my computer to view the drives on my computer. But you are telling me that the computer would see the drives inside my MPC, but my MPC would not see the Drives on my computer.

Well I must say, that sucks because I just went back and hooked up an old S1000 and it works. Maybe the left that out of the MPC.

From my S1000 I can see all of the drives on my Server (Based on SCSI ID). Now I do have some long file name issues with some of the files/folders but other than that, I can see the files on the server. It's like having over 100GB of stoage for my S1000. Too bad I dont use it that much.

Just a question to add to this here, I have an MPC 2000 classic, an external Iomega ZIP 100 and a SCSI card in my computer (PC), is it possible to connect both the MPC and the PC to the ZIP drive and transfer samples this way?
