8 Outs?

Is it possible to assign an individual pad to each out?
Let's say I have a kick, snare, rim shot, clap, and a loop on 5 seperate pads. Would it be possible to assign the kick to out 1, snare to out 2, clap to out 3, etc....

Yeah, you can do that. What you gotta do is edit your PGM on the MPC, and assign the pads/sounds to whatever output you like. I think the MPC-Editor allows you to do this too.

Thats the best way to use the 8 outs!!! Get the BEST Mix this way. Now the thing you have to remember is to change the outs to IND, and not STRO . If you keep them in STRO, you end up with 1 Pad going out on 1,2 and another pad going out on 3,4 and so on...

But if you set the mixer to IND you can do 1 pad to 1 pad 2 to ch2 and so on.

Keep in mind, you only have 8 outs, so you might find yourself doing something like pad 1 on ch 1 as well as pad 9 on ch1. Still will work if you understand what can happen if you use over 8 sound (Most time I do).

With help from the members on this forum, the manual and my own curiosity, I feel as though I am finally getting a grip on this wonderful machine.
I've got my 8 outs connected to the audio interface and was curious if I could track individual pads out to Cubase. I would like to be able to set the levels of each sound individually to ensure balance.

Also, I am sitting at work right now and I do not have the manual with me, but what exactly is 'quantize'? It was mentioned in another thread, so I was curious what it was. Is there a screen where that setting can be changed or something?

Sound like you might new to it all. Well how do I put it...I am not one to give the def right out of the book.

But think about it like this. You ever did something and everything sounds off beat, well then you would quantize the notes to the nearest beat. Kind of shift stuff on beat (if you want it on beat). But the MPC has an auto quntize (unlike most MIDI Seq - Not even Cubses has and Auto quantize - unless you tell it to use the MPC style).

So just think of it as something that helps to keep you on beat or move your swing of the track.

Is quantize set to 'on' by default?
Yes, I am new to the hardware stuff. (been using software for years).
I haven't had a chance to play with the 'swing' either. The default for that shows as %50 and EARLIER.
Does the Quantize setting show up in the tempo 'open screen' like the 'swing' setting, or does it show up elsewhere?

Chop14U,what do you mean by "auto quantizing" again? are you talking about just setting it to 1/8 , 1/16 notes an so on?

i dont recall an auto quantize function.if there is,let me know what im missing,lol.

What I am saying is out of the BOX (no setting needed) the MPC will Quntize with out you having to do anything. You dont have to make setting change for this. It is just something the MPC will do anyway. Every just run your hands over the pad without trying to do it on beat and hear what the MPC will play back after the loop? Do the same thing with Cubase or another Seq. What you play is what you get....Auto Quntize

I thought I would never need it but I'm gonna need those 8 outs I spent a week tracking out a beat CD for this dude. It was exhausting. Some of the beats I had sequenced on the fly so I had to redo the beats over and seperate it sound for sound. I can't go through that $h*t again. I need them 8 outs
