Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Okay, im normally a 2500 user but i did a temporary trade with my friend for his 2000XL so far i think i prefer the XL but i have one question. Say i have a beat at 91 bpm, and i want a sample to fit this tempo, i understand timestretch and can make a slower sample fit the faster beat but my question is is there any way to make the sample adjust to tempo changes automatically, similar to whats called a "patched phrase" on the 2500. thanks for the help

Yes their is

if you chop your samples up into small peices when you go plus or minus a few bpm's on the tempo then the samples with still rock smoothly. It wont change the pitch of the sample either! As you speed or slow too much though the samples will either overlap or have gaps in between

thanks for the help, on my 2500 i can use patched phrase and have tempo changes of 10 bpm either way and it still fits together, shame about this, i do like the 2000XL.

edit: chopping the loop up works nicely, thanks. i think i shoulda picked up a 2000XL ohh well maybe he'll swap

No.

Jacpots method is a workaround though. It doesn't bend the sample to fit like patched phrases does, what Jac is stating is that a very small sample sits comfortably in a very small up/down range of the original changed bpm without having to stretch, but it is still no patched phrase.

So, in essence, Jacpots advice is the closest I think you'll get to that result within the 2kxl.

Question do you have an internal card reader in your MPC ? if not then DON'T upgrade, stick with os 1.14.
