Vinyl cracks and hums in samples

I'm sampling from vinyls and when records are not in good condition I have cracks and hums in background. It is possible to clean the samples ??

why not clean the record first?

Hums could be due to the turntable not being grounded......

Sometimes you get hums also if there's a ground loop in your wiring setup. Also some old records that are not in good condition have surface noise, so give your vinyls a good cleaning before sampling and check your wiring.

Cracks/pops are pretty easy to fix in soundforge. When I was doin the dj thing, I would have to go in after recording a CD and physically draw the wave where it popped. Just zoom in really far so 90% of the gap is visible and use the pen tool to connect the gap. Skips are a different monster, though. Good luck.

Sound Forge Noise Reduction Plugin pack has a "click and crackle removal" tool. Hums are sometimes easy to take out with noise reduction auto capture.

i just leave em in there.
i like my shit dirty. sometimes you get a really nasty pop though, in that case i use the click/pop eliminator and hiss removal in cool edit pro.
