Damn! Damn! DamN!

My mpc 2000xl just wont power on anymore. Ive been waiting to use it alllday with a sample I found . When I went to sample into it and pressed a button the power went out. It came back on a couple of times and now not at all. Can it just be a fuse? What have any of you done to get yours fixed? Does Akai service them?

quick story...Back when I first was introduced to an MPC, my homie used to let me rock it every now and then....one day I was doing my thing on it and the **** just shut OFF....I felt like Kenny in Beat Street when he crashed the computer at that arts center...I thought I was going to have to pay outta the ass to replace his MPC...

gladly it was just a fuse.....

Hate to break in to your conversation, but i'd like to comment on your original post...

I need a little more info - did it actually power down when you pressed a button? That means there could be a short inside maybe some liquid slipped in somehow. moisture could do that too.

A fuse would probably just short and that would be it, dead mpc. It sounds like a repair job is needed, you should check out who is able to to it in your area - check out who is authorised akai dealer and go from there.

but before all that - have you tried a different power cable?

I appreciate the feedback. It just shutdown after I hit a button and then it came back on a few more times and then that was it. I was hoping it is just a fuse also.Im not sure what size fuse it is because one side says 125v and the other says 250v. also I dont know what amp to use. Im tryinjg to find out where and what type of fuse to get.I put one in that was a 250v 2amp and it made spark and blew the fuse so I dont wanna try another wrong fuse.Hopfully I didnt make it worse.If anybody knows where to find out what type of amp holla back.

You replace the one which corresponds to the voltage in your area - that would be 110V in the states. (I suppose you're in USA?) Voltage fluctuates, so 125 is to make sure it won't blow too easily.

As for amp, have a look in the manual... I don't have mine avaliable, so I don't know if it's in there. But I suspect it is more than 2 amps.

If fuses keep blowing, you need to see your mpc doctor...

aaight I'll try the 125v I contacted Akai and they couldnt really help me . Im statring to think its not the fuse cause it looks fine.driving me crazy

I got you that upset you gotta keep checking this thread to reply. We had a difference of opionio now move on. One man putting all his energy into another man is lil suspect to me.IM here to help others and reveive help also not arue with a person I dont even know.
