Switching from REC/OVERDUB to PLAY....

Can the MPC2000XL switch from REC/OVERDUB to PLAY and vice versa without having to stop the sequencer. I can't seem to figure this one out or if its really possible....

yeah hold down the play button while toggling rec/overdub on of off.... easy
