External Scsi floppy drives?

In terms compatibility with an XL...does something like this even exist?

I think they exist - dont know if they work - question is, why do you need one?

There's about 150 beats made on our old regular 2000 (all floppies) that need to get transferred to my xl (fully maxed out - internal zip) for studio use. The thing is that alot of the drum sounds (mostly all) used exceed 8 letters. I can transfer to zip via pc but the long file names are always truncated. What ends up happening is that the xl loads the .aps or .pgm but doesn't pick up the drums (that dialog box saying "can't find file" comes up). I end up hearing the samples playing with no drums and re-assigning drums sounds is a pain cuz pad assignments usu. vary from beat to beat. Then you gotta remember what u used where. Real pain in the ass.

Probably gonna have to get that old 2000 back into commission and transfer via external hard drive or something. I checked around and the external scsi floppy drives I've seen are for labtops but use a different kind of scsi cable (not compatible with the mp).

If anyone can shed light on this let me know...

why don't you get an external zip drive and an internal floppy?
where in da beat do you record?...i need a studio to set up shop in....someplace not so crowded and with long hours so i can get busy!

Do you know anyone who would lend you an MPC (with an internal floppy) for a couple of hours? or lease one........................

The old 2000 works...it's just in the hands of someone else we work with.
I was just trying to avoid all the running around since the disks are with my at my lil' studio. Guess legworks a must then.

Prah - I've got my own setup at home. B/w me, my mans and our affilliates (5 beatmakers/10-15 emcees total) there's about 4 other private spots to record at. Everybody's really doing there own private thing but we all look out and support one another.

There's alot studios in and around Hartford where you can pay for time.

I looked into one of these when i got my 2000. the method your saying can be expensive.
