Using mpc 2k classic as midi trigger

I finally decided to hook my 2k classic up to my computer on a permanant basis. I can get it to midi sync with cubase sx 3 with no problem, but I want to control Battery using the mpc pads. Is it possible to use the 2k as a controlller? If so how do I go about setting it up?

You've got to set up the track as a MIDI track, not a Drum track. That way, the pads send midi data out A or out B. Be warned though; Akai preset the pads to send some pretty wack note values. I think they were intended to comply with general midi drums. So you might have to make up your own program with out own MIDI send specs.

it worked. Now could you find it in your heart to point me in the right direction to remap the midi in the MPC so it matches battery correctly...or can you do this?
