Muting Tracks/Recording/ Problem?!

i am using a 2000XL midi synced with an mBox that runs version LE7 of Pro Tools.

i dont have an 8-out on my MPC so i record tracks one at a time

for instance, lets say i mute everything but the drum track....i am fine

then i mute everything but the basslines...i am fine

by the time i get to the 3rd and 4th tracks...for an example lets say i have a piano and a vocal sample...

i mute everything but the vocal sample and record

for some reason the piano plays too

i re-sequence everything and create a new song....even going as far as deleting the piano track

BUT IT STILL PLAYS!!!

i DONT have 2 samples per tracks...so that isnt the problem

i will even make a new sequence with JUST THE PIANO so as to not have a problem and it doesnt play??!!

it is extremely annoying and i am in the dark. i have never had this problem before but then again i just got Pro Tools. i would love to say it is a problem with that but i cant see how.

any advice?

what about soloing the vocal track? if the piano keeps coming up with that on, then there's something definitely wrong with your pgm

is there an FAQ somewhere on soloing?

i have never had to do that before

im really simple when it comes to beat making haha

Maybe you accidently recorded some of the keys on the wrong track. Try putting the mpc onto that track that shouldnt play the keys (but does), push record, hold erase and hold whatever pads have your keys on them. If the track plays without the keys, then you just recorded the keys on 2 tracks accidently. I do that some times. It's pretty easy to erase the keys off the wrong track. Or you can simply erase the vocal or drum track ... or whichever one plays the keys on it too. Then re-sequence the track from scratch.

i did do that. i went as far as re-recording a whole entire song. and it still does it. funny thing is it plays the sequence with total silence. and then when i record onto Pro Tools it plays it. i just dont know where the sound is coming from. it happened on 3 different zips for 3 different songs.

does it do the same thing if you dont use any midi? If you just run audio outs and try to listen to the tracks one at a time, does it still do it?

nope if i play it strictly audio it is fine

only when im recording it does it

ill play a sequence not recording and its not there

if i record it it flips it and it is there

im seriously going to shoot myself

no matter what i mute instruments come in that ARENT supposed to be there

i cant **** get them to not be there

im going insane
