so my mpc crashed.....or did it?

yeah was messin with my latest dnb opus...had 6he mpc firing on all four...suddenly i press two buttons too quick and the mpc freezes on the prog screen- noooooooooooooooooo! i had just finished tweaking but hadnt saved.....

i was loath to restart (even though i could recreate what i jut did) so i turned the vvolume down and sat down in a huff...half hour later..yup still stuck on the screen and still playing- so i stropped kept hitting stop and then shift and one of the numbers buttons- et voila...it sprnag back into life....worked perfect and allowed me to then go and save.....woohoo!

next day: same tune, same fumble over the keys- same crash screen! no no no.....but wait- i spazzed out on the keys again and it worked....

moral of the story? sometimes your mpc seems to have crashed but you can coax life back into it....dont switch off try hitting the buttons first.......

hasn't crashed since so im letting it go...

This is what works always for me!

if he frezzes on me..wait 5 secs and press shift save (you pretend that you gonna save your ish)

BOOM your baby is back!

I found it out when it ones crashed on me and I freaked like a **** and tried to save it! MPC CPR baby!!

sometimes i work faster then the MPC can handle and to much key combo wil result in a freeze!

The first thing to do when you got a dope beat is save it!!

one time i had an ugly experience.. I was banging on the pads..bizzy with a dope beat. The doorbell rings and i went downstairs to open the door for friends. I was like yo come up i got his new beat..

we came upstairs i hit play and BOOM freeze! so sad but such an eyeopener hahaha

I think everyone that uses theirs a lot gets a freeze at some point. Typically it does seem to be at some random point while editing stuff real quick, so I can never tell what caused it. It seems to be similar to the old blue screen of death where every once in a blue moon you can back to the OS and save... othertimes its waiting for you to reboot it. There should be a 3 key combo like ctrl-alt-del, haha.

Anybody ever get the crash where the thing just starts going crazy? I know I've heard others mention it. Basically it just starts triggering shit in a random but crazy sequence that sounds like it could be aphex twin's latest tack.

My biggest fear is that it dies while playing live as it takes a few mins to get all the samples loaded up for an entire set. Has anybody ever had theirs die in the middle of a sequence? As far as I recall, mine has never died during a sequence, only when editing. Worst was a half hour before a show and thought it was busted and that I was gonna have to cancel, but ended up playing fine once I reloaded everything.
