Organizing sample

How do you guys organize your samples such as putting snare on a disk, claps on a disk, and hi-hats on a disk.

I do that in my cpmputer but not in zip drives. What I do ussually is have a pgm folder and put every pgms I made on there(including the sounds)

Top Directory = Phat Samples

inside the above directory broken down individual folders

Piano, Guitar, Bass, Snare, Cello, Hitz, Lickz, Percussion, Effects, Vinyl, Vocals, 808, 909, Linn, ........

just organize them by what they are when you sample them originally
if alter them into something else, dump em in the directory that best fits them after tweaking.


* with each category like Piano for instance it will have a Kit1, Kit2, Kit3 inside of that folder with all the sounds & pgm files

^^^ I sorta do the same thing. I have piano/guitar/bass/vocals/drums/breaks/etc directories, and if I have enough of them I may organize it further like vocals/tv_samples or bass/real and bass/synth, and of course the different drums like drums/kicks, drums/hats, etc. I usually keep a disk of just the programs and the .SND files and sequences in their own directories for fast access, and my sound repository on disks so when I want new sounds I pop one in, load it to my program, pop the program disk in, save, and voila. Once one of my sound disks is full, nothing ever gets written to or taken off of it again.
