Another Cubase MPC 2000XL sync question

sup folks

Im trying to sync up cubase SX and my MPC 2000XL to track out my beats. I have done a forum search and followed everyones directions to the T. First i tried setting up the MPC as the master and cubase as the slave
then i tried setting up MPC as the slave and cubase as the master.
Neither of them worked.


ideally i would want cubase as the master and the MPC as the slave but i will settle for anything right now

hear is what i have done so far
-set the right outputs with the MPC and cubase
-checked and make sure the frame rate and MMC were being transmitted.
(Transmit for cubase recvie for MPC)
-Done the sync settings with cubase etc....
-made sure sync is online
-made sure MIDI time code frame rate for cubase and the MPC match

When i press play on the cubase sequencer nothing happens. My MPC just sits there as if to say "**** YOU!!!""

I have a M-audio 410 firewire interface with one MIDI in and one MIDI out

could it be a bad MIDI cable??
am i missing a setting or something

any help would be appricated.
