Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

GREETINGZ,

OK, so i have an mpc 2000 , i installed the 8 outs. The guy i bought the mpc from gave me a zip disk with some sounds (808, 909, etc.)OK, so when I load that particular disk and then assign each output manually, every thing is fine. ALL 8 OUTPUTS WORK GREAT....ANY OTHER DISK THAT I TRY TO LOAD works fine until i try to assign seperate outs, be it stereo or mono.NONE of the individual 8 outs work,( main outs work fine)...SO i ask myself, what makes this disk( THE one that the guy who sold me the mpc gave me) different from any other disk( all disked have been formatted correctly obviously if sounds are loading to pads and coming out the main outs no problem) NOW, when i put the disk that came with the MPC into the zip drive it reads on screen that the type = PC this disk works fine with assigning the 8 outs .Any other disk ( one's that i made using MPC editor, or purchased online etc..)reads type= MPC 2000. NONE OF THESE WILL COME THROUGH THE 8 OUTS when assigned!!!???!!! I don't no if this could explain something or not but, when i put the one disk that works into my zip drive ATTACHED TO MY COMPUTER, for some reason it reads NO DISK IN DRIVE .....ALL OTHERS(the ones that won't come out the 8 outs read fine) I'm stumped....PLEASE HELP!!!

The 8outs assignement is NOT automatic UNLESS you load a program that ALREADY has that assignment in it. Sounds like you are loading programs that HAVE 8outs assignments and other programs that DON'T have 8outs assignments.

Read up in the 2kxl manual on how to assign the 8outs YOURSELF and then you will be able to configure and use those outs no matter what programs you are dealing with.

I WISH IT WAS THAT SIMPLE...the original disk that i spoke of doesn't load to the 8 outs automatically...i have to assign them manually.

Mixer settings are saved with PGM. Maybe you can load the original PGM off of that disk, assign the 8outs how you want them, resave as PGM or APS and ALL all inside of another folder aps, pgm all and samples all in the new folder together).
