problem with default pad assign values.

I am having problems getting my MPC to default to the values
pad a
1-16 =note 35- 50
pad b
1-16 = note 51-66 etc.
whenever I load up my mpc 2000xl the pad value default to vary strange values of bank a
pad 1 - note 37
pad 2 - note 36
pad 3 - 42
pad 4 - 82
etc.
I have reprogrammed the pads to value 35-50 for bank a etc.
but every time I turn the mpc off it defaults to the same seemingly random values. I have tried initialising the operationg system and initialising the pad assign master and program but they always go back to those annoyingly random values.
I just want the defualt numbers set out in the manual so my samples track nicely over a keyboard. The only way I can get this is to load a saved program where I have programmed the values again.

Anyone have any ideas I could try

You'll have to save the program when you setup the bank chromaticaly and load it up whenever you want to use that template. This link might help you understand the layout of the pads or at least why I think they are laid out the way they are.
