timbalands bass samples

anyone know some good records to get those deep timbaland sounding bass kicks. i am not trying to cop his or anyones style i am just curious. i sample a lot of funk and the bass kicks are not that deep which is fine except i want a little new flavor in my life.

Perhaps filtering out some kicks or turning down the "tune"
SHIFT + 6 + (select which drum program) + PARAMS = You're there

Same thing beets said then take a snare sample-tune it down-filter it-and layer it under the bass sample.

are you saying to mix a snare and a bass drum to get a deeper sounding bass drum???? thats some crazy shit. never thought about that.

Yeah man. If you tune/filter a snare sample it will give you a bass drum that sounds wide and a bit distorted that sounds good when laid over the top of a true bass sample which can sound a bit to dry.

that was a good little idea. i tried that last night. i tuned it down, put some decay on it and turned the volume down a tad on so not too overpower everything and mixed it with the original bass drum, which i had already filtered and doubled. the end result was that it bumped pretty hard. quite exciting, wish i was trying something else new instead of sitting at work. thanks for the good tips.

I also like to boost the Resonance a little bit in the screen above. Can fatten it up a bit.

yea all of the above do wonders for flat sounding kicks. boosting up the res gives it some punch

you can layer whateven you want.
just play around with some sample/synths and mix it all up.
