Recording each of the pads on different tracks

Hi Lamp,

is it possible with the MPC2000XL to assign each pad to a different track and record all of them at the same time.

I dont want to play in track by track, but record a beat with all sounds in realtime..

Recording all sounds in one track with overdub is possible, i know, but then i cant bounce my recording to Cubase (track by track)

Must be possible somehow..

As far as i understand it, the Multiple-Recording Option, is only for setting up the MPC with an external Sequencer or Keyboard, am i right ?

The MPC really is one of the nicest toys ever but the Manual s**** big time.
Thats probably, why there so many Tutorials out there..

Ok, i`ll try it first, just cause it states "Midi In" on the "Multi Recording setup", i thought the signal has to home from an external source.
I`m at work right now so i can`t try out, but will when i get home tonight.
If i still doesnt work the way i want it to be, i`ll get back at you.

Well you either use an external controller (which is a bit stupid imo) or you just split out your track by hand.

what do you mean by : "or you just split out your track by hand"? how?

Record your beat using all the pads you want.

Use the F2 button to go to the edit menu.

Use the Data wheel to make the Edit choice Edit:Copy

Go down to where it says Notes: All. Highlight Notes:, and then hit the pad you want to put onto a different track.

Then use the menu to your right to pick the appropriate track for this pad to be placed onto.

Then on the original track that contains ALL of the beat, go into recording mode and hold down ERASE and the pad you just copied and pasted until all the data from that pad is off of the original take.

Repeat this as needed.

i dont understand internet jargon that well...

but, are you trying to record 5 tracks or however many at the same time???

if so, it is possible...do like lampdog says and read the manual....read it CLOSELY...

change all your ish to M, i think, im not in front of my mpc but thats what im thinking...

all the ones you want to record at the same time make them M...

S is for single track sequencing, M is for multitrack sequencing..
