Mpc legato and timestretch

does anybody know how to do legato and to timestretch a sample? Also is there anyway to filter drums out of a sampls on the mpc2000xl?

as far as legato is concerned.......I am clueless

As far as filtering drums out of a sample.......I still havent been able to do it on the 2kxl.......my family has done it on the 4k but I cant get it on the 2kxl

I know this only answer 1/3 of the total question but 1 out of 3 aint bad

i dont understand what you mean by "doing legato." legato is the opposite of stacatto, or basically it means to play notes long and smoothly into one another, versus staccato, which means short choppy notes. if you want "do legato" so to speak, you'll want your samples to be in poly or mono mode so they will play long, if you want the stacatto, turn it to note off.

also, filter the drums out? your not asking if you can take the drum lines out of a sample are you? this is impossible to do, you cant seperate a track out of an already mixed song. if there are other things going on in the song besides the drums, then thats what you get, you cant take out the other stuff. this is why breaks in records are so popular, the drums are in the clear.

now if you just want to filter the drums, the only filter option you have on an mpc2000 is a lowpass filter, so you will just end up muffling the drums, which can be cool sometimes, but not always.

I think looking for the general tip on how to make an open/closed hihat kill eachother will give you a limited kinda legato.

Timestretch is one of the options when editing samples yes...
