data wheel not functioning

i turned my mpc 2000xl on and everything works except for the data wheel. is it something i did wrong? did i occur a virus on the joint or what?

data wheel failure is a common problem on the XL.. it might need replacing..

if that is the case, if you know how to solder, you can buy a data wheel encoder from from VST service.. i think its like 8 bucks or something like that..

maybe open it up and have a look, you may be able to fix it yourself. jog wheels dont get virus's,

how would i go about trying to fix the wheel myself? i took the mpc apart lastnight to get a feel as to what the guts looks like. if instructed what to do i believe i can solve the problem. so nanoloop if you could give me some advise i will appreciate it. thanks emfinite for the reply too.

i ordered the data encoder soldered it in and it works dope again and it was cheap too....
