bonehead pad question

mpc 2000 (og)-When playing a sample back on a pad, how do you change it to cut itself off when you hit the pad again, instead of playing back (layering) the sample over itself. or only playing while your holding the pad down? Searching the manual dont know what to look for.

If you go to shift+program ( I forget the number), hit the pad you want to cutoff, and hit the params ( I think it's F2) and it should bring up a window with attack, decay, filter, etc. Scroll to bottom right hand corner and you should see poly turn the data wheel until it says mono. Poly will overlap the sample, and note off will play only the length of time you hold down the pad. If this isn't clear enough it is most def. in the manual check under creating and editing sounds.
